Prime Minister Tu’ivakano visits Singapore | Matangi Tonga


Tonga’s Prime Minister Lord Tu’ivakano arrived in Singapore yesterday to renew relations with the Government of Singapore. His visit will end on Thursday, 1 May.

Lord Tu’ivakano will pay a visit to Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loon today 28 April, to promote assistance in areas of mutual interest between Tonga and Singapore.

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of the Pacific Island nation of Tonga but experts say there is no threat of a tsunami.

The quake reportedly struck in waters northeast of the Tongan capital, Nuku’alofa, at about 7pm local time on Saturday.

Three days of Inter-College Athletics attracted hundreds of competitors from Vava’u, Ha’apai and Tongatapu ended with a parade at Teufaiva on Thursday 17 April.

Athletes marched in their school colours for the closing ceremony of the Inter-College Athletics Competition 2014, and the presentation of medals by Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala.
