Tongan “Hulk” knocks-out American kick-boxer in UFC bout


An Australian-Tongan professional Mixed-Martial-arts fighter (MMA) fighter, Soa “the Hulk” Palelei, has caught the attention of MMA audiences after he knocked-out a popular American kick-boxer in an Ultimate Fighter Championship bout yesterday December 8 in Brisbane, Australia.

Tongan sprinter Lolesio Ma‘asi wins gold at Special Olympics


Sprinter Tomasi Lolesio Ma‘asi has won Tonga’s first gold medal at the inaugural Special Olympics 2013 Asia Pacific Games held this week in Newcastle, Australia.

Ma’asi won the finals in the 400m run with 1 min 5.61 sec, while Pauli Mahe came in sixth in the same event with a time of 1min 20.30sec on the second day of the competition, 3 December.

Tonga’uiha tuition has stood Saints prop Waller in good stead – Northampton Chronicle and Echo


Waller spent several seasons as the Tongan titan’s deputy at Saints and says he learned a lot during their time together.

Tonga’uiha moved on to Racing Metro this summer, with England loosehead Alex Corbisiero switching from London Irish to fill the void.

But Corbisiero has spent the past few weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury that has required surgery, leaving Waller to step up and show his worth.

SPORTY young pupils got a surprise when they were asked to tackle their latest assignment – players from Tonga’s international rugby league squad!

Kitted out in their country’s shirts, they put some of the youngsters from Tottington High School through their paces as they showed off their rugby league skills.

Sione Kalamafoni: Gloucester hand new deal to Tonga forward


The 25-year-old, who can play as blindside flanker or number eight, arrived at Kingsholm from Nottingham last summer.

He has made 37 appearances for the Cherry and Whites and has 19 international caps to date
