The 20th USP Chancellor, His Majesty King Tupou VI of Tonga and Her Majesty Queen Nanasipau’umade a historic tour of the University of the South Pacific Laucala Campus on Thursday 5 September, 2013.
In his first official visit as USP Chancellor, His Majesty toured the campus on Thursday morning, meeting with key senior staff and sections of USP.

OVER 160 students from USPs Tonga campus graduated on Friday with 68 per cent of them being females attaining certificates, diplomas and degrees.A statement released by the university, stated that the Tonga campus also officially welcomed the 20th Chancellor, His Majesty the King of Tonga, Taufaahau Tupou VI.

Rosemarie Fili wanted to study how Tongan perspectives of beauty differed from western views so she entered a beauty pageant in the Pacific Kingdom, and won.
Rosemarie, 22, entered the Miss Heilala pageant – effectively the Miss Tonga competition – as part of her post-graduate studies at the University of Waikato and says it was a plan to learn more about Tongan women’s perspectives of beauty.

A Kalapu Kava Tonga (Kava Tonga club) in Wellington, New Zealand has raised $1,000 to help fund renovation of a school house at the village of Pea on the mainland of Tongatapu, Tonga Islands.
The fundraising on June 29 was organised by members of the Kalapu Peteli of Wellington led by Moana Ma’ake and the President, Feleti Foliaki.

Sophia Loren Moala was graduated last week June 22 with an MBA degree from the University of Science and Technology of China.It was a scholarship offered as part of the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Tonga’s Educational Exchange Program.Moala said she was personally honoured and blessed with the opportunity to study at one of China’s leading universities.

Major renovations to Tongatapu’s most needy schools, including Afa, Lapaha, Malapo and ‘Atele Government Primary Schools were completed during the 10 days Pacific Partnership 2013 led by the Pacific Fleet of the United States Navy which concluded its mission today, June 21.
A closing ceremony was held at a newly renovated GPS ‘Atele Si’i in Ha’ateiho attended by Tonga’s Prime Minister Lord Tu’ivakano, Cabinet Ministers and members of the diplomatic corps, who were entertained by performances by young students. Traditional gifts were also presented to personnel from the 10 participating countries under the partnership.

Free Weslyan Churchʻs Tupou High School, is celebrating its 50th Anniversary Jubilee this week with activities Thursday to Sunday 23 at Fasi and Vaolōloa campuses.
Known as Siasi Uēsiliana Tau’atāina, the largest denomination in Tonga, founded the high school in 1963 with fifteen students as a continuation of the Free Wesleyan Church’s commitment to educating the populace and to provide a place for further training and preparation of those willing to serve the church.

Tupou High School is celebrating its Golden Jubilee in a three-day event that has attracted hundreds of ex-students from overseas. The celebration for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga school began today, Thursday 20 June, with an ex-students march led by the Patron Princess Pilolevu Tuita in central Nuku’alofa.
Bands from the Free Wesleyan Church secondary schools accompanied the march from the Tupou Tertiary Institute at Fasi-moe-Afi to the Centennial Church where a roll call for the alumni and former staff was held.
