Tonga plans for Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai


Nuku’alofa, Tonga: A new national committee to plan Tonga’s participation at “Expo 2020 Dubai” held its first introductory meeting today at Consular House, where invited private sector representatives looked at the challenge ahead, of presenting Tonga to the world.

Police made 20 drugs arrests during Christmas and New Year Operation


Police made 20 drugs arrests during the Christmas and New Year Operation with189.99 grams of cannabis and 2.7 grams of methamphetamine seized by the Drugs Taskforce from different locations throughout Tongatapu and Vava’u.

Teenager pleads guilty to manslaughter, murder trial continues


Nuku’alofa, Tonga: Sitiveni ‘Esi Muli (17) today changed his plea to guilty in regards to two alternative counts of manslaughter in relation to the death of a Chinese couple, Mr Feng Sheng Pei and Mrs Su Jie Wen, who were found with multiple stab wounds at a vegetable plantation on February 25, last year. But the Crown Prosecutor was not satisfied and is continuing with the murder charges.

Public Health Division warn of spread of water-borne diseases 


Officials from the Public Health Division are urging the public especially the parents to keep children away from playing in the flooded areas as they would be vulnerable to waterborne diseases that may be in the water.

271 arrests during holiday operation


Nuku’alofa, Tonga: A total of 271 arrests were made by Tonga Police from December 21, 2018 to January 3 this year, during the annual Christmas and New Year Operation.

The body of a young man discovered this morning in New Zealand is believed to be that of a missing Tongan teenager.Police said a body has been recovered north of Piha Beach after it was spotted by the Police Eagle helicopter on Monday evening.

Police Operation Lutua recorded 2 fatalities during festive season – TBC


Police recorded two fatalities during the Police Operation Lutua.The first fatality was recorded on the 22nd of December after a 5-year-old boy was electrocuted at his home in Pili.
