Jail terms, fines over Tonga ferry sinking

Four men have been handed jail terms of up to five years for their “disgraceful” part in the sinking of the Tongan ferry Princess Ashika that left 74 people dead.

Supreme Court Justice Robert Shuster also handed fines of $2 million Tongan pa’anga ($A1.03 million) to the government-owned Shipping Corporation of Polynesia (SCP), branding it a “shambles of an organisation”.
