Ashika ferry guilty to be sentenced in Tonga today


The four men who were found guilty of a total of 30 charges relating to the sinking of the Tongan ferry, the Princess Ashika, will be sentenced today.

They are the former Shipping Corporation of Polynesia’s chief executive, New Zealander John Jonesse, captain Maka Tuputupu, first mate Semisi Pomale and a former transport ministry director, Viliami Tu’ipulotu.
